2009- Minglewood had five new foals this year, all born in April ! All of the foals are healthy and everything we had hoped for. Four of the foals will be for sale at weaning (see 'Sale Horses'). Ting, Comet Rose and Calinda are all safely in foal for 2010.
8/20/09- Congratulations to Denny Emerson on the purchase of Valonia (Contester/Ariadus/Marlon). Valonia will be ridden by Lila Gendal. We are excited about our first venture into the world of 3-day eventing, and look forward to following Valonia's career !
8/22/09- Weaning time for the foals. Rollando is exhibiting incredible jumping ability as he has jumped over his stall wall (4'6") three times ! It took an extra two boards (12") to convince him to stay in. I know what his career will be !
9/9-9/10/09- Calixto went to his first breed show at HITS in Saugerties. He was very brave and extremely well behaved. He received scores in the 70s and improved in each class he competed in. We were very happy with him! You can see photos on his sale page.
10/1/09- AHHA inspection at the beautiful Winley Farm in Millbrook. Rollando stayed home due to a small laceration in a difficult location. The other four weanlings went and did well, though they lacked confidence going into the huge indoor arena alone. Three year old Wandah was inspected and made the premium mare book with scores of: 7,7,6,6,6,7,8 for a total of 47. Wandah was Site Champion! She also free jumped and in spite of only two practice sessions got good scores of 7 (technique), 7 (willingness) and 8 (scope).
4/15/10- Ting foaled a lovely filly by Chevalier !
4/17/10- Comet Rose foaled a beautiful filly by Formula One. One week later, the filly's uncle, Courageous Comet finished third at the Rolex 3-day, after already winning two Advanced Level events in 2010 !
4/29/10- Congratulations to Chris Fraser Armstrong of Vergennes, VT on the purchase of yearling colt, Calixto!
5/17/10- H-Calinda foaled a gorgeous, feminine filly by Quinar !

6/25/10- Four year old mare, Wandah left Minglewood to go to Tamarack Hill Farm for training. A journal will be started to document her progress.
8/10- Three year old mare, Zinnia Grace left Minglewood to enter training with Amanda DeSarbo.
10/4/10- We had a very successful AHHA inspection at Winley Farm! We brought four horses and all four were premium! The mare, Montblanc got a score of 46 (7,7,6,6,6,7,7), yearling colt Rollando got a score of 15 (8,7) and both weanling fillies, Chloee and Conquina got scores of 15 (7,8). It was very exciting for us !
10/5/10- Wandah has moved to the farm of Caitlin Romeo. Caitlin will work with Denny and train Wandah in VT and in Southern Pines, NC over the winter.
10/9/10- Valonia completed her final horse trial of the season at Hitching Post Farm, finishing in 6th place on her dressage score- no penalties in either stadium or cross country. Congratulations Lila and Valonia !
10/26/10- Denny is one of the featured clinicians at Equine Affaire, in Springfield, MA on 11/11-11/13. One of his presentations will be, "Gymnastic Jumping Techniques: Only a Correct Start Leads to a Correct Finish Over Fences". This presentation is on Thursday, 11/11/10 at 1:30 and Valonia and Lila will be participating as demo riders ! If you are going to Equine Affaire, check them out !

Inkognito- 5/5/85- 10/28/10
10/28/10- I want my friends to know that we lost our mare Inkognito today. Our poor Inkognito (Iggie) developed laminitis a few weeks ago. Although we were able to keep her pain under control for a while and allow her to enjoy some of the beautiful autumn weather, she took a turn for the worse in the last couple of days. The farm will not be the same without her. She was the very first foal that I ever had; she turned 25 this year. Iggie and her beloved dam, Hotlips were the two horses who came with us when we purchased Minglewood in 1995. Now they are buried next to each other, outside of the pasture where they lived together. Iggie's best friend Fiona, who never left her side for the past several years, is going to have a really difficult time. Don and I will mourn Iggie's loss, but we'll smile when we think of the crazy things she used to do. We hope she is with Hotlips in a better place, where there is plenty of sunshine, green grass and no pain. We will miss her terribly. Godspeed, sweet Iggie.
11/11/10- Sadly, we have to report another loss. Comet Rose lost her 2011 Aberjack foal. Comet Rose is fine and will be bred back in 2011.
11/11/10- Lila Gendal rode Valonia in the Denny Emerson clinic at the Equine Affaire in Springfield, MA. Valonia did great in the huge Coliseum with hundreds of spectators. We are so proud of Lila and Valonia!
Lila and Valonia at Equine Affaire
11/13/10- Congratulations to Caitlin Romeo of South Royalton, VT on the purchase of the weanling filly, Minglewood Comet! Tamarack Hill Farm and Minglewood Sport Horses will be partners with Caitlin, who will train and show Comet.
11/26/10- Congratulations to Martha McDowell of Billings, MT on the purchase of the yearling colt, Rollando!
3/20/11- Congratulations to Tara Masterson on the purchase of the two year old colt, Quasar!
May 2011- Minglewood mares once again produced three beautiful filles: Quinar x Montblanc, Cicero's Icewater x Magnificent and Cubito x H-Calinda (H-Calinda was leased so this filly will leave our farm upon weaning). Pictures will follow at some point.
Only Comet Rose was bred this year and is in foal to Quinar.
8/11/11- Congratulations to Lila Gendal and the wonderful mare, Valonia (Contester x Parlona) ! This pair had an exciting season eventing in their first recognized events. They are destined to go far.
8/11- I want to let all of my friends know that I have been very ill. I have been hospitalized since 12/22/10. I am finally seeing some signs that I may come home at some point in the next couple of months. I hope that happens. Don is working his butt off keeping things going as they should at the farm. I miss my horses and my cats. And I can't wait to see my fillies, who are already five months old. I'll keep you posted. Maryanne
11/25/11- I am finally home from the hospital after eleven months. It is good to be home, but with my continuing poor health it is clear that we need to downsize. Therefore, several young fillies are for sale at very reasonable prices.
